Shifters Jugs XS
Shifters is a new innovative set of holds, shaped by Fedir Samoilov, a pro climber and routesetter with 20 years of experience in the sport. With this set, he aimed to solve some common problems every setter faces on the job — finding the right size of hold for the move intended and preventing climbers from cheating the moves.
The set includes incut holds in three depth levels, all based on the same leaned curve, along with matching slopers designed to fit as blockers to the incut holds of appropriate depth. Every hold is marked with a number of strips indicating its depth level, to help setters in finding the correct hold and its blocker.
Shifters works as a standalone set of jugs for easy routes, slopers for harder moves, or as a universal system when jugs are paired with blockers to transform and adjust hold sizes in countless ways. You can turn the biggest jugs into hard-to-hold crimps, shrink footholds, create crag-style holds, and more. The straight outer edges help align perfectly with volumes and wall edges.
The set is deliberately made with no bolt holes — screw holes only — to stop climbers from using a bolt hole as a thumb catch. This gives routesetters full control to create the moves they intend, rather than being limited by the hold's shape. All screw holes are angled so the screw head sits flush with the hold's surface, further preventing climbers from using them to cheat the moves.
The holds feature a grippy but not sharp surface, giving climbers a comfortable, pleasant experience.
Overall, Shifters is a great-value set: it isn't limited to any route style or grade, letting you set everything from the easiest to the hardest routes with ease. One Shifters set effectively gives you countless sets in one.
When selecting a set of holds, we recommend taking several S and XS sets to have more possibilities to play with blockers and to have enough footholds.
